Dominique Payette began her career as a classical dancer, and she has also founded the youth publishing house Dominique et Compagnie which has won numerous awards, including the Governor General's Award, four times. Her career as a visual artist began with a degree in art history. She followed her studies with various classes to develop her technical skills. Drawing classes taught at Saidye Bronfman and creative workshops with Seymour Segal contributed significantly in shaping her creative process. Her works have been featured in several group exhibitions, including Les Femmeuses at Pratt & Whitney in 2005. At this exhibition, Loto-Quebec acquired one of her paintings. In 2006, Dominique Payette presented her first solo exhibition in Montreal entitled Part de jeux, Part de vie, at Galerie Le 1040. Then in New York, her series of paintings titled Présence were exhibited in Agora Gallery in October 2009. In June 2010 she was invited by the Nelligan Hotel to create a new series of 15 paintings for the Nelligan vu par… exhibition, which was attended and recognized by many collectors and connoisseurs.
