Patrick Skals is a conceptual artist practicing out of his hometown of Toronto. His body of work titled In Other Words delivers a truly distinctive style that speaks volumes.
\nPatrick\u2019s paintings fuse abstraction & commentary, intended to have one rethink and reframe common perspectives. By tackling psychocultural topics pertaining to contemporary culture and its impact on our mental health, one is asked to approach the subjects with honest introspection.
\nInspired by the \u201cbeautiful decay\u201d of city walls, recycled paper is utilized to create an organic textual element. Applying torn pages from idea notebooks, it is the artists\u2019 conviction that no ideas die and live on forever in the backdrop of his works.
\nAuthenticity is at the heart of each painting, feeling as impulsive as they do calculate. The audience is invited to relate to the vulnerability of an artist battling themself in a rapidly changing environment.
