Ariane Dubois lives and works in the Montreal area. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts
\nfrom Concordia University, where she studied with Jean McEwen and Tom Hopkins. She
\nalso holds a certificate in art history, a master's degree in museology from the Universit\u00e9
\nde Montr\u00e9al, and studies in visual arts education from UQAM.
\nSince the beginning of her career in the mid-1980s, Ariane Dubois has presented her
\nworks in several solo and group events across Canada and internationally. She has
\nreceived grants from the Minist\u00e8re de la Culture and the Conseil des arts du Qu\u00e9bec.
\nShe has participated in international fairs and major international exhibitions, such as
\n\"Qu\u00e9bec en Mexico,\" an exhibition produced by Loto-Qu\u00e9bec at the Museo del Artes in
\nGuadalajara.
\nThroughout her career, she was a member of several cultural groups, including the
\nPraxis (Sainte-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se) and Verticale (Laval) galleries. Within these two organizations,
\nshe served successively as a director, secretary, and president (Praxis) on the boards of
\ndirectors for nearly twenty years. She was also a member of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Mus\u00e9es du
\nQu\u00e9bec, as well as the board of directors and acquisition committee of the Art Collection
\nof the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain des Laurentides.
\nHer works are part of private, public, and corporate collections in Canada and the United
\nStates, including those of the Royal Bank of Canada, City of Laval, Loto-Qu\u00e9bec,
\nPromutuelle l\u2019Abitibienne, Brookfield Properties, Caisses Desjardins, and Abitibi

For several years, I have continued my pictorial research, drawing inspiration
\nfrom the landscape as a place of meditation. It is from a vision influenced as
\nmuch by my personal experience with the nature that surrounds me as by the
\nliterary essays of the philosopher Gaston Bachelard that I approach its countless
\npossibilities.
\nThe landscape is presented as an imagery at the base of the experience of
\ncontemplation. From this material reverie emerge as many meditative variations.
\nThe place, as long as the viewer is receptive, is conducive to understanding
\none's own intimate universe. The image acts as a metaphor for states of mind.
\nThe elements of earth, water, air, and fire take on their meaning according to the
\nfascination they exert on each of us.
\nThrough their suggestive imagery, my paintings address the presence of these
\nfour elements, generators of underlying life, intrinsic bubbling, and introspection.<\/p>\n","grille":false},"yoast_head":"\n
