artistic approach:
By breaking through the barriers of déjà-vu, recycling materials, and art observation, Dominique shows the audacious method of repurposing pre-existing fur into hand-made artworks.
Dominique has been well established in the artistic scene for many years. Her fashion design background is driven by a particular interest in textile, color and texture. What began as a thirst for the world of contemporary textiles and their conception evolved into a desire to work with a truly one of kind medium - a material that can be recycled and reused while retaining its quality and richness. This expertise in fur becomes a reality the following years, as she begins to offer an exclusive line of high-end, eclectic and daring accessories.
In recent years, she was inspired by a painter friend of hers, to create works of art made of numerous pieces of recycled fur cut and sewn together. Through her intuition and flair for texture and color, Dominique creates abstract shapes that often reveal surprising images hidden through the assembled material.
In an effort to push the connection between viewer and artwork beyond the gaze, the artist emphasizes the sense of touch - this being the catalyst for her passion of textiles - and thereby shows that art can be appreciated through much more than just the eye.
