Kathleen Finlay

Artist Resume

BIOGRAPHY:

Kathleen Finlay is a fine art photographer who has been exhibiting her work for over 35 years in Canada and Internationally. Since 2016, Kathleen has returned to painting, specializing in large scale acrylic paintings on wood panel while continuing her photography work. As the founder and organizer of The Soulfood from 2018 to 2022, Kathleen created a collective of rotating artists invited to participate in events organized in different cities in Ontario and Québec.

artistic approach:

Kathleen Finlay’s work explores the purity in nature contrasting with human interaction and man-made structures. Kathleen is fascinated with symbols that remind us that life is fleeting and transient. In contrast to a culture where abundance drowns the senses, these images take us back to the purity and truth found in nature. The austerity of her photographic landscapes is dotted with traces of our passage and illustrate the idea that nature is immense and that our part in it is ultimately insignificant. Her paintings explore architectural, linear and geometric patterns both human-made and observed in the natural world.
