BIOGRAPHY:
Yvan Genest is a contemporary Quebec painter born in Montreal. After an initial career as a songwriter, musician, and singer touring throughout Europe, he devoted himself entirely to painting. His work is distinguished by a highly expressive figurative style populated with enigmatic characters resembling masks and talismans, inspired in part by Mexican culture, Neo-Expressionism, and Art Brut. Through vibrant colors, rich textures, and powerful symbolism, he explores themes of spirituality, identity, and the mystery of the human condition. He divides his time between Montreal and Puerto Vallarta, and his works are exhibited and collected both in Canada and internationally.
