artistic approach:
French-born photographer Bruno Fabbris studied drawing and painting in Paris. There, he discovered not only the work of the Impressionists and the painters of light, but also the work of photographers such as Guy Bourdin, Jeanloup Sieff, Herb Ritts, Newton, Avedon, Paulo Roversi and many others, whose emblematic works helped elevate photography to the rank of fine art.
Naturally, Fabbris developed a growing taste for and interest in photography. Self-taught, he first photographed his own environment, before extending his repertoire to young actors and finally to his first models.
Editorial and commercial work soon followed, leading him not only to explore color, but also to adopt a new perspective and take an interest in new subjects. Color, in a unique and distinctive, almost monochromatic style, is found throughout his work and is part of his artistic approach.
Later, he switched to digital technology, while continuing to retouch his work personally, thus retaining control over the final result, the naturalness of skin and light, and the quality of his images. For him, the possibilities offered by retouching software should never replace his work in the studio.
Occasionally, on the bangs of his assignments, he creates limited edition series of fifteen images, which he calls "collections". Together with his collaborator Nathalie Rutili, a stylist with a background in haute couture, they select unique fabrics and materials and dress silhouettes with ethnic personalities.
Alongside these stylized series, he also works on his favorite subject, skin. The lines and volumes of the body when it becomes almost abstract, the beauty of black skin and its incredible ability to capture light. Passionate about light and the emotion of the moment that retina and memory struggle to capture, the artist is fascinated by the unpredictability of the image.
For Bruno Fabbris, the strength and raison d'être of a photograph is its ability to capture a fleeting moment, the movement of a body, the shadow of a cloud on the landscape, the radiance of a gaze, the movement of a hand, the light of a hand, the sparkle of eyes, the movement of a garment, the flight of a bird. So many unique moments to capture.
