Faltered Gaze
Galerie Blanche is pleased to present Faltered Gaze, a new selection of works by Benoit Genest
Rouillier, a Quebec-born painter with a career spanning more than twenty years. His work —
marked by expressive gesture, material depth, and emotional charge — moves fluidly between
abstraction and figuration, balancing movement and stillness, chaos and poise.
In his work, colour becomes emotional terrain, material becomes trace, and gesture becomes
memory. His paintings carry a raw, almost organic quality, where texture, layering, erasure, and
accident reveal the emotional intensity of human experience. Each composition unfolds as an
intuitive choreography, balancing the assured gesture with moments of fragility, continuously
negotiating control and release.
